Saturday, March 5

Super-early morning, our flight was at 8. Yuck. The flights were pretty uneventful, and we arrived in Columbus early afternoon. After some rental car annoyances, we finally got on the road for Wilmington. Stopped for lunch at a Ruby Tuesday's along the way, which does deserve a shout out for being the only restaurant I've ever seen that serves Mr. Pibb. They also earned a shout out for the serving the saltiest corn chips we've ever seen. And a final shout out for not giving us food poisoning, which I did have my doubts about.

So we got to Wilmington, and it was pretty teeny. We found the venue, and it was sorta strange, in some building with weird silos and stuff. It was pretty early still, it being an all-day festival, so we got to set up our merch table and hang around and watch the other bands before our set. There were a lot of nice folks there, many of whom had traveled really far for Autobahn, as well as our friends Jeff & Tony (aka the guy with the Freezepop tattoo), although I was still recovering from a sore throat, so I just sat there and drank tea and didn't talk too much.

Our set was pretty fun, it was a good, undie-throwing crowd. And I "borrowed" Joy Electric's cymbals for the end of "Get Ready 2 Rokk" which was a really nice touch. When we went on, it was only 7:30 or something, but afterwards, we were totally wiped out. The rest of the night was pretty fun though, even though JE had some bad technical problems. And it was nice when everything was over, hanging out and talking to the other band folks. Everyone was really cool and friendly. All in all, a fine day.

Sleepytime for the Duke

Afterwards, a brief stop at a convenience store, where I got new Butterfinger popcorn, which was pretty delicious. I rode with Jeff and Tony, and their friend Dan went with the boys to direct them to Cincinnati. We crashed w/Jeff and Tony again, although we were too exhausted for late-nite videogaming this time.
