Our flight was super-early (7:40 am) so we had to get up at the crack of dawn. This was problematic because I had been up until about 3 am the night before celebrating DJ Nebula's birthday. Getting up was pretty much the worst feeling in the world. I was nauseous and confused and shivering. It was not too fun. It did however, work out pretty well for falling asleep on the plane. I was stuck in a middle seat by myself and passed out pretty much immediately.

We arrived in Houston and got a van and got on the road to Austin. I miraculously felt almost entirely better. We stopped at a convenience store along the way, where I got Dr Pepper, a) in a glass bottle and b) with sugar cane instead of corn syrup! Sooo nice to be in Pepper country. And Sean got chili cheese fritos. Things were really looking up.

We proceeded to Miss Lunarkitty's and had a happy reunion with her. It was pretty fantastic. What better way to celebrate than with some quality Tex-Mex cuisine, courtesy of Chuy's. Sean saw some semi-famous actress there (I forget who, so it was not really that exciting, but he did think it was actually her, as opposed to the time he saw Chad Dracula in Seattle). Anyway the food was awesome, it was warm and sunny, and that was about all I could ask for.

Then was soundcheck, which did not really go all that well (tech problems and a vaguely surly soundguy), and it made me kinda apprehensive about the show. We went back to Miss Lunarkitty's to chill out for a bit beforehand and get dressed and stuff. Got to meet her new BF too, he gets a thumbs-up. It took forever to get back down to the club, there was a ton of traffic, which LK thought was football-related (some big game, millions of people in town, etc). We finally made it back and got to hang out with some ex-Boston friends as well as Catherine, a current Boston friend and labelmate who randomly happened to be in Austin. Our set actually sounded OK, or at least a lot better than the soundcheck would have led me to believe. And the crowd was so much fun! Yay for people dancing. And I just had a really good time up there, I guess it had kinda been a while since the three of us played a show together. Anyway, all in all it was a really fun night.

Note the boys' new synths. Awesome.

Trying to get back to LK's afterward was even more of a nightmare than getting to the club. All the cheesy bars were letting out, and the streets were packed with super-cheesy people, all the freezing half-naked drunk girls wearing their stilettos, trying really hard to stay upright, and dudes saying things like "WHOOOOOO!!!!". It was kinda entertaining for the first 10 minutes, but then I was really looking forward to the traffic starting to move again. Finally we made it back and ate some chili cheese Fritos.
