Since we only had a short drive to our show that evening, we got to spend some time hanging around Cincinnati. Jeff took Sean and I on a drive around the neighborhood, where there were some amazing mansions. And then we went to this gorgeous old art deco train station that they'd modeled the Superfriends Hall of Justice after. Now there's a bunch of museums there, and the inside is this big incredible dome, with an orange-and-silver stripey ceiling. Wow.

Me and Sean and Jeff at the Hall of Justice.

Meanwhile, the Duke was off getting a tattoo from Tony (who is skilled in such things). We drove out to meet them, and got to spend a few minutes passing through Kentucky (land of goat festivals) as well.

After the tattoo was all finished up, it was time to head out to Antioch College. We were pretty awestruck upon our arrival, I'd heard it was a tiny wacky liberal school in the middle of nowhere, but we weren't really prepared for the full-on experience. There were a lot of people without shoes. And the interior of the student union was covered in crazy murals/graffiti. Like, actually covered. And an real campus, with trees and squirrels. Then we met Tisha, who'd booked the show, and Jackie (a Massachusetts native who was representing in a "Berry the Bears" t-shirt) and Hott Beat, the other band who were playing. We set off in search of food, since we'd arrived too late for the cafeteria. Ha Ha's pizza had been recommended to us, but then we got there and there was one guy making the pizzas, and we were told it'd be an hour and a half before we got our pizza, which was too bad, because I was really looking forward to a tempeh and refried bean pizza. OK, no I was not actually, but the point is, if I had been, I could have gotten one. Except I couldn't.

I told you there was a lot of graffiti.

Back at the show, Hott Beat were amazing and confusing. A keyboard boy and hyper leotard-wearing girl with a very large cardboard mask that I don't think she could really see out of, shrieking and rolling around on the floor. AND she had to be at work the next morning, so they drove back to WASHINGTON DC after the show!! Hats off to them. Anyway, the show was not the best-attended, but the folks who were there were having a total dance party, and that is the best kind of crowd to play to. Afterwards, we went back to Tisha and Jackie's place, and Sean had a long drunken phone conversation in which he convinced their friends from Pittsburgh to come see us the following night.
